Sarà presentato oggi al Toronto Film festival “The Promise: The Making of ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town”, un documentario di Thom Zimmy che racconta il lavoro di Bruce Springsteen e della E-Street Band nel periodo di preparazione del mitico album uscito nel 1978. Il documentario composto da materiale d’archivi di quel periodo e da stralci di interviste di oggi – verrà incluso in un cofanetto che sarà nei negozi da novembre: “The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story”

Nel cofanetto ci sono 3 dvd (o blue ray) e tre cd.
Nei dvd,: oltre al documentario, anche un intero concerto registrato nel 1978 a Houston, un concerto a Asbury Park nel 2009 con tutte le canzoni di Darkness e altre registrazioni di pezzi da numerosi altri concerti, per un totale di quasi sei ore di filmati.
Nei tre cd: uno con la versione rimasterizzata di Darkness on the Edge of Town e gli altri due con le canzoni registrate nelle sessions di preparazione del disco ma non incluse nell’album.
Tra queste gemme, Because the night (resa poi famosa da Patti Smith ed eseguita sempre da Bruce nei concerti), una rock version di Racing in the Street (uscita nell’album ma in altra versione).

E’ un’operazione simile alla pubblicazione nel 2005 del cofanetto dedicato a Born To Run, in occasione dei 30 anni dalla pubblicazione dell’album
